Ferrari sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 world when it announced on Tuesday that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel would be leaving at the end of the season.
It brings to an end a six-year relationship that was heralded as being a game-changer back in 2015, when Vettel joined with aspirations of emulating his hero, Michael Schumacher, by bringing glory back to Maranello.
But with the emergence of Charles Leclerc last year, Vettel no longer found himself at the centre of the team’s future plans, eventually leading to a breakdown in talks over a new contract.
